When the downturn struck last October, Victoria Miro’s exhibition programme mirrored it perfectly: Too Late, Elmgreen & Dragset’s simulacrum of an emptied nightclub, suggested terminated revelry. In the ensuing choppy waters, the dealer’s programme has steered, perhaps tactically, towards established names: Tal R, Alice Neel, Yayoi Kusama. Lest one suspect complacency, though, in March Miro mounted The Collection, which combined live dance (orchestrated by choreographer Siobhan Davies) with art devoted to movement or engagement with space: a reminder that, while Miro may have an enviable roster of big names, she’s still a gambler at heart.
