Okwui Enwezor has been an admirable multitasker for years – helming expos (Documenta 11, and biennials in Seville, Johannesburg and, in 2008, Gwangju), curating museum shows, theorising (he’s currently completing two books) and lecturing. In April, Bard College honoured Enwezor with its annual Award for Curatorial Excellence. Perhaps this encomium focused his attentions, because in September he resigned as dean of San Francisco School
of Art, promising to devote himself to exhibitions and writing. Expect curatorial excellence in the near future.
