It’s not all work and no play for Gerhard Richter: according to Stella McCartney, the seventy-seven-year-old artist attended one of the designer’s shows. Still, it’s mostly work. According to his website, Richter kept up a barrelling pace in 2009, including 11 solo exhibitions – among them an unprecedented show devoted to portraits at London’s National Portrait Gallery; and as if to showcase his legendary stylistic pluralism, Gerhard Richter: Abstract Paintings at Haus der Kunst, Munich – and 19 group shows.
