L&M propel the major deals in the US auctions. Love and money? No, it’s Lévy and Mnuchin of L&M Arts. Rulers of the New York secondary market, they are moving forcefully into primary territory with the opening of their LA gallery. Though delayed somewhat by permit issues, it’s a big project (two linked ‘pavilions’ set in a 375-square-metre garden and comprising 110 square metres of exhibition space each). And it’s a showstopper of an opening for September 2010 – Paul McCarthy’s first exhibition in an LA gallery since 1998. McCarthy says he’s ‘pretty excited’. So are we.
